Sea Squirts

| Description: This course is designed to introduce young sailors to fun in, around, and on the water. The goal of
this course is to build young sailor's love for sailing in a controlled and safe environment. The class is designed to work
with the children at the level that they are comfortable with. Activities build confidence and include sailing, crafts, songs,
and "messing about in boats". Children learn to sail an Optimist and have fun together on a larger 20 ft. Cape Dory
keelboat and the Club 420. This class is taught by US Sailing Certified instructors. Students must pass a swim test on the
first day of class in order to participate.

Prerequisite: Completed Intermediate Opti class in summer camp or equivalent.

Ages: 8 – 12 yrs
| Description: This course is geared for sailors who are ready to sail their own boat and compete
in simple races and fun age-appropriate activities. The sailors will learn the specifics of rigging a boat, sailing fundamentals,
basic boat handling, seamanship (knots, weather, etc.), water safety, and sportsmanship. The emphasis for this class is having
fun and gaining a greater confidence in the Optimist. The course curriculum prepares the sailor to join the Race Team in the
near future. The class is taught by US Sailing Certified instructors. This program is designed for sailors that have completed
the Intermediate Opti Summer Program or equivalent. Beginner Opti summer camp sailors that completed 1 or more sessions, must
be cleared by Sailing Director to enroll in this program.

| The Laser Program is comprised of individuals who already have some racing experience, and
are looking to improve their skippering skills in single handed boats. Emphasis is put on advanced boat handling and strength,
which are two vital components to successful sailing in the Laser. In addition, the team learns racing tactics, strategy,
seamanship, and other skills to excel on the race course. A typical weekday practice will include daily chalk talks, physical
training, on the water practice, and debrief at the end of each practice.

Advanced Green Fleet Race Team
When: Wednesday's 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm & Sunday's 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
Dates: September 11 - December 14
Registration Fees: Member $500.00 Non-Member $600.00
Charter Fee: $100.00 Damage Deposit Fee: $50.00
Prerequisite:
Completed 2 or more regattas last Spring. Otherwise must be cleared by Sailing Director.
Ages: Under 15 years old
| Description: The Advanced Green Fleet Race Team consists
of sailors that are ready to compete in regattas around Florida. The sailors are expected to attend all the regattas that
are listed on the Race Team schedule. The curriculum for the Green Fleet Race Team is to improve the sailors' boat handling
skills and rules knowledge, as well as teach them more about small boat racing, including tactics, various courses, with a
particular emphasis on sportsmanship and the ability to take care of their equipment. The Green Fleet builds a strong foundation
for both important sailing skills, as well as personal connections and relationships that will prove important as the sailors
become more exposed to the world of racing. It is highly recommended that the sailors' purchase their own boat and race sail.
This program prepares the sailors to move into the Red, White, and Blue Race Teams.

Ages: Under 15 years old
| Description: The Opti Race Team is for experienced sailors who are ready to compete at the
highest level and are under 15 years of age. The Optimist Race Team competes in many local events, but also prepares sailors
for National and International Optimist events, focusing on advanced boat handling and tactics. The sailors become exposed
to a strong team atmosphere in which sailors are working hard both on and off the water as well as doing physical training.
Sailors on the Race Team are highly recommended to purchase their own Optimist and race sail. Refer to the Key Biscayne Yacht
