Learn To Sail

Beginning Sailing Adults Only
Ages 18+ 

Practices: Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday 10:00am - 1:00pm

Price: Member $50, Non-Member $60

 

This course is for adults with little or no sailing experiences and want to learn the basics of sailing a small dinghy boat.  Sailors learn to confidently captain their own vessel by learning the basic concepts of rigging, sail trim, points of sail, stopping, starting, sheeting, and seamanship rules. This comprehensive learn-to-sail combines classroom and on-the-water instruction.  Small dinghy type boats will be used, so come prepared to get wet.  All courses are taught by US Sailing Certified instructors.  Please bring a US Coast Guard approved life vest, towel, water bottle, and change of clothes on each day of practice.

London Foggy Sailing Program
Ages 5-7 & 8-10
Session Dates: February 4th - May 1st 

Practices: Friday's 3:30pm - 6:00pm

Price: Member $210, Non-member $225

 

This course is designed to introduce young sailors to fun in, around, and on the water.  The goal of this course is to build young sailor's love for sailing in a controlled and safe environment.  The class is designed to work with the children at the level that they are comfortable with.  Activities build confidence and include sailing, crafts, songs, and "messing about in boats".  Children learn to sail an Optimist and have fun together on a larger 20 ft. Cape Dory keelboat.  This class is taught by US Sailing Certified instructors.  Students must pass a swim test on the first day of class in order to participate.  

Beginner Opti
Ages 8-11
Session Dates: February 6th - May 6th 

Practices: Sunday's 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Prices: Member $400, Non-Member $460

Charter Fee: $50

 

This course is geared for sailors who are ready to sail their own boat and compete in simple races and fun age-appropriate onshore activities. The sailors will learn the specifics of rigging a boat, sailing fundamentals, basic boat handling, seamanship (knots, weather, etc.), water safety and sportsmanship. The emphasis of this class is having fun and gaining a greater confidence in Optimist. Sailors are required to charter an Optimist, $50.00, for this program. This class is taught by US Sailing Certified instructors.
